2004 Presidential Election
Arizona Central.com: "President Bush and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry are about even in the race for Arizona, according to a poll released Thursday. A statewide poll of 410 registered voters across Arizona found 41 percent of voters said they would probably vote for Bush, compared to Kerry's 38 percent. Eighteen percent of voters said they were undecided, while 3 percent would support independent Ralph Nader." Thanks to Taegan Goddard for the link.
Taegan Goddard: "A statewide Badger Poll has President Bush 'widening his lead' over Sen. John Kerry 'in the past month and ending a gradual slide in his popularity dating back to last fall.' A poll done by the St. Norbert College Survey Center, however, 'gives Kerry a small lead in hotly contested Wisconsin.'"

Denver's New Logo
The City administration has chosen a new logo, according to the Denver Post [April 29, 2004, "Big 'D' logo ready to rise in Denver marketing pitches"]. From the article, "Denver will use the logo in marketing efforts to tourists and businesses, but it will not replace the city's seal or flag. It will appear on city documents only as supplies are replenished. The Downtown Denver Partnership plans to display it soon on banners on the 16th Street Mall."
Here's the coverage from DenverGov.

Colorado Water
The East Cherry Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District is kicking off their new $50 million project and have hired a consulting firm, according to the Rocky Mountain News [April 29, 2004, "Contractor hired for water project"]. They're planning to buy water rights downstream from Denver and pump water back to their system. Here's some more background. The Denver Post link is dead however. Sigh.
Meanwhile 11 water districts in the South Metro area have endorsed "a $2.5 billion plan to wean the area from its dependence on depleting groundwater supplies," according to the Rocky Mountain News [April 29, 2004, "Douglas, Arapahoe water suppliers back costly plan"]. From the article, "Now the 11 water districts will begin negotiations with the Denver Water board and the Colorado River Water Conservation District on the Western Slope to secure surface water supplies, said Pat Mulhern, manager of the study that led to the plan." That should be fun for them.

From the article, "The poll of 603 likely voters in the seven counties the Regional Transportation District serves found 69 percent approve of FasTracks. Thirty-nine percent said their support is strong, while 30 percent said they 'somewhat' support FasTracks." Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [April 30, 2004, "Poll shows FasTracks support"].
