An Open Letter to Object Technology Newcomers

The author, Alistair Cockburn, looks to be an expert in using Use Cases as an anchor to the whole Object Oriented (OO) process. So, we'll start here (actually not start, but backup to the beginning...I hope). Here's what the article proposes to answer:
  • "Why is it that some OO experts get really upset when I do or say anything that is not strictly and purely object-oriented, but use cases are so popular, while not being object-oriented, and object modeling looks so much like data modeling?"
  • "Would the model produced by a data modeler look the same or different as the structural part of an object model, and would the model produced by a process modeler look different or the same as the behavioral part of an object model?"
  • "Why do we use use cases and scenarios, instead of just modeling the structure of the business?"

InfoWorld - JOB TITLES: IT business analyst

"Business analysts' job duties differ by company and industry. In a high-tech company, a business analyst may review client IS needs. In a government entity, the BA tracks industries."
I guess I'm not sure that this is my current job, but I do review client IS needs. And I'm not sure what to make of the fact that Compensation is the top motivating factor. It's not really mine. Don't tell my boss, though.

Interaction Design Patterns

Patterns for Web UI elements. One version of how they should be standardly implemented. I'd be interested to see what usability has been applied to these. And what other folks version of these would be. [Link shot to Scripting News]
