Press Release, 6/18/02:  NASDAQ LIFFE MARKETS SELECTS CENTERBEAM FOR END-USER COMPUTING SERVICES

New York and Chicago Offices of NASDAQ / LIFFE Joint Venture Use CenterBeam Service To Manage Rigorous IT Requirements

SANTA CLARA, CALIF., June 18, 2002 – Today, CenterBeam, a leading provider of end-user computing services, announced that the New York City and Chicago offices of Nasdaq Liffe Markets, LLC (NQLX) have chosen CenterBeam to deliver complete end user computing services.

“NQLX is founded on two principles:  innovation and partnerships that build on exclusive strengths,” said Robert Ledvora, NQLX’s Senior Vice President.  “NQLX joins the presence of Nasdaq in the U.S. marketplace with LIFFE’s unique derivatives product and systems expertise to create an innovative market for futures products.  We are partnering with CenterBeam based on these same principles.  CenterBeam has created an innovative way to manage end-user computing systems for distributed organizations.  We are able to build on CenterBeam’s unique strength in managing distributed environments so our company can better focus all of its resources on creating a new, powerful single stock futures market, based on global stocks, for US and European customers – strength built on strength.”

NQLX is the first U.S. marketplace to be approved for trading of single stock futures. This joint venture between Nasdaq and LIFFE was announced in March of 2001 and is a wholly electronic exchange offering a broad range of contracts. NQLX is an independent exchange and uses LIFFE CONNECTTM, the world's most advanced derivatives trading system, as its trading platform.

“Nasdaq and Liffe are both global leaders in applying technology to financial markets.  They are agile and innovative – especially as demonstrated in their founding of NQLX.  Therefore it was an especially great honor for CenterBeam to be selected to manage the joint companies’ end-user IT services,” said Kevin Francis, CenterBeam president and chief executive officer.

Information Week, 6/17/02:  EDS To Buy Loudcloud's Managed Hosting Business

Loudcloud will now focus on developing and selling the Opsware automation product.

By John Rendleman

After struggling for years as an application service provider, Loudcloud Inc. threw in the towel Monday and agreed to sell its managed hosting business to outsourcer EDS for $63.5 million.

After the deal is finalized, which is expected by September, EDS will take over Loudcloud's 50 customers for hosting services. EDS also agreed to pay $52 million to license Loudcloud's Opsware software for three years, which EDS will roll out on more than 50,000 servers it runs in 14 data centers worldwide. The software is used to automate service delivery and manage applications. The companies said EDS will be in a better position to succeed with the hosting business than Loudcloud, and the sale will let Loudcloud focus on its primary business of developing and selling the Opsware automation product. Loudcloud, which was started by Marc Andreessen, the force behind Netscape and the Navigator browser, will change its name to Opsware.

Outsourcing Journal, 6/02:  Innovative Hardware Eliminates Wireless Risks

By Kathleen Goolsby, Senior Writer

Imagine a nation's air force unit being able to immediately operate as a virtual private network (VPN) under a wireless band for all support systems that go into an airfield - before it can get landline communications in.

Or visualize an immediate enablement of police and fire departments operating on a combined wireless circuit for a joint operation in support of an emergency. It happened recently in North Carolina. "You did what?" was the stunned response of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
