Dave says "Ooooh Microsoft". Well for once he is not all diskombubilated and makes some sense. Although he still sounds a little like Al Gore's " I invented the Internet". Funny, the Dave posts I like best are the ones where he simply provides a perspective based on his 20 year experience, with a few little reminders here and there about things that had been hyped up before, and without all of his self-involved genius PR.

Hollywood here we come: As a new low, a couple of LA film school grad's paid some homeless men to fight, and put it on video. Talk about exploitation. Many homeless are mentally impaired. What's next? Handicapped porn?  Since the video appears to have sold quite a few copies, I wouldn't be surprised if the film makers receive a contract with a studio.

MS Trial: I wonder how many people in the tech community are watching the legal hairsplitting that has been taking place in both MS antitrust actions are shaking their heads about it all. The latest tidbit appears to be the absolute insistence that Windows cannot be modularized. As a programmer I find that tremendously interesting since MS claimed for the longest time that it subscribes to OO. If it did, I am sure the OS can be modularized in the manner simila to what is asked for in trial. On the other hand, I have a good friend who has done Win32 API level work, and who tells me underneath the hood Windows is the biggest mess that you can imagine. None of that purported OO ,  instead things are patched together and cobbled up. So I ask you, which group is being lied to? The court when MS says it can't modularize the OS (presumably because it really would break too many things as a result of crappy coding and cobbeling things together) - or are we programmers lied to when MS claims leadership in object oriented design of its API.
