Apple XServer. A few years ago who would have thought this could happen

C|Net: Microsoft political infighting against Sun on open standards body. The interesting part is found in two quotes. One alludes to MS saying "our next wave of standards.." which underlines just how driven by teh big companies the open standards really are. The other was a quote about MS wanting to make sure the work of this organization allows for multiple operating systems and languages - which I thought was a good idea.

Water Watch: "Maps and graphs of current water resources conditions" and a "map of real-time streamflow compared to historical streamflow for the day of the year." [From the Desktop of Dane Carlson]

Here is an odd story about a demonstration at a San Francisco school. It's sad.

Displaying Two DataTables In One DataGrid. Typically one dataGrid is bound with one DataTable. However, consider the case of two tables both having a common key column called ID. Say one table contains personal information about employees and another table contains some official information. EmployeeID is the common in both the tables and both tables have same number of rows (equal to the no of employees). How to display such tables in one DataGrid? Read on to know more.

Quote of the day: "...and thats just another darn nifty thing about Java - - anytime I need to do something seemingly complex (like render media), a brief Google search will reveal something workable, uniformly documented, and completely free that I can have right now via download....."

I've watched my buddy Dan move from everything Microsoft, to everything Java over the past two years and have seen his frustration level disappear before my eyes. Maybe a frustration level indicator would be a fun way to compare the usefulness of a tool ? And in this corner with a developer frustration level of +70 and a CIO acceptance level of +90 we have Visual Basic. The contender, with a developer frustration level of +20 and a CIO acceptance level of +40 heeeeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeee is Java !!!

Do you suppose that will fly?
