Iraq: Majority sect ridicules western 'liberty'. [Guardian Unlimited]

Software Bullet Is Sought to Kill Musical Piracy 'The record companies are exploring options on new countermeasures, which some experts say have varying degrees of legality, to deter online theft: from attacking personal Internet connections so as to slow or halt downloads of pirated music to overwhelming the distribution networks with potentially malicious programs that masquerade as music files.'

U.S.-Backed Iraqi Exiles Return to Reinvent Nation
Hoping to foster democratic and secular ideals, the Pentagon has plucked a 150-strong team from America and Europe. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

The US wishes it could remake Iraq in its own image.

Surround Professional Magazine -Surround Monitor Controllers'Boy, does this thing sound good! Or rather, it allows everything else to sound as good as it can. To say the least, I was astonished at the sound of the Quartet. As soon as it was connected, the monitor system came alive in a way I?d not heard (and I thought it sounded really good before). Everything was now bigger, fatter, and much more euphonic.'
A review of Ed Meitner's Switchman-2. I have one in my studio. It is utterly transparent. I was amazed when I installed it. The output goes at +4 directly into a Bryston 7BST. 6 feet of Kimber 8TC to my B&W 801's. It allows me to switch between my Prism DA-1 - which I use for lo res sources - and my EMM Labs DAC Mk IV. Life is good.

CBC News - Canada's marijuana laws: The debate over decriminalization
The US is trying to bully us out of this as well.

CBC News - Indepth: Canada-U.S. Relations 'Relations between Canada and the U.S. are decidedly chilly these days. The Iraq war, trade disputes, name-calling, bickering at the border: are we at a turning point? Or are the two countries more entwined than ever? What does it mean to you? Here's an indepth look at the past and possible future of our love-hate relationship.'
An extensive web feature on the complicated relationship necessitated by geography.

CBC News: Cellucci urges Canada to join missile defence 'He made the comments at a news conference with Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham where the pair renewed a pact on border security.

Graham said cabinet hasn't made a final decision whether to join the program, dubbed Star Wars by critics who fear it could trigger another arms race.'

We're peace keepers. We don't need to be bullied by the freaks currently running the US.

CBC News: Canadians furious with U.S. wheat tariff '"Western Canadian farmers do not dump their grain into the U.S. market or anywhere else," board chair Ken Ritter said Friday in a press release. "We don't need to. We produce some of the world's highest quality grain, for which our American customers have testified they are willing to pay a premium." An investigation by the U.S. International Trade Commission found Canadian prices higher than U.S. ones in 94 of 96 months, he said.'
This again. Softwood lumber. Wheat. Again and again the Americans show that they are only interested in 'free trade' when it benefits their lobbiests.
