We had a fun time with the New Year's Resolutions tonight. People didn't do a very good job at guessing who made the different ones; except for mine! Mika had a good time Hawaii and brought back to very nice postcards with English messages on them. Mihoko wrote up the notes from the party we had at the end of the year. I will take a look at them this week and give them back to her next week. Maybe we can get someone in the class to type them up.
No homework for next week. We will talk a little more about the weather and then start Unit 6A.
Morning
Only about half of the people today, but kids are still on winter vacation, so people with young kids probably couldn't get away. People had some good winter vacations. Sayuri was in Fiji for Christmas. She said she had a hard time understanding the Fijian English.
We started the unit on preferences today. In practicing the conversation we tried something different today. Instead of just sitting or standing people had to walk and talk. People did much better than I thought they would. I really thought there would much more stop and starting than there was.
The homework for next week is to do the grammar check and to write sentences about your partner's preferences.
After class today I went to the coffee shop Day Chrome that I told you about last year and had lunch. There was a new item on the menu that I tried. It is curry with a bagel. It was really good and it comes with a salad and coffee. It is perfect if you aren't too hungry and would like a light meal. The master's wife was working today and she speaks English, so if you stop by maybe she will speak English with you. Please add a comment 1:46:59 PM
