Cape Wind Associates hopes to install a wind farm of 170 turbine windmills in Nantucket Sound off of the island of Nantucket. These turbines would provide a potential peak hourly output of 420 megawatts. Many fisherman and residents are opposed due to concerns about wildlife and the site of all the windmills. Nantucket is the site of S.M. Stirling’s Island in the Sea of Time series, in which the island of Nantucket was sent back in time to 1250 BC following an unexplained cosmic event. They certainly could have used all that electricity during the series; currently the island imports power from the mainland. 10:38:54 PM
