Not Wright The First Time

A century after the Virginian-Pilot published the first account of the Wright Brothers’ landmark first controlled powered airplane flight, it has issued about 20 corrections to the story which was described by the Wright Brothers at the time as "a fictitious story incorrect in almost every detail."

More accurate and much longer is the first magazine account of later flights around the Wright Brothers’ hometown of Dayton, Ohio published in Gleanings in Bee Culture by publisher A.I. Root In December 1904 after his eyewitness account of a September 20, 1904 flight was rejected for publication larger publications such as Scientific American.
