"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

I love MediaWhoresOnline.com.

Today I read a total puff piece about Greespan saving the economy and the recession is long over and aren't we lucky it was the least troubling recession ever. And then I read a "hard news" article about the Enron memos that just -- for some unknown reason -- left out that it was Thomas White's group that was putting the screws to California.

First, is it easier to believe that Greenspan is as stupid as Little George -- that he really thought it was necessary to whack the economy a couple of years ago, as opposed to changing the margin requirements -- or that he was out to give Bush his only (legal) chance of being elected? I would never ascribe to malice anything that can be as reasonably explained by incompetence, but wtf! Greenspan is not a dumb-bell. Any idiot could see that the bubble had already burst, and things were winding down. Any professional idiot would have thought about inventory levels -- based on presumption of high growth -- and the potential downside. If Greenspan is really that stupid, he ought to be out of a job. And if he isn't that stupid, well, he deserves a seat on the Supreme Court.

Second, my industry (the internet, broadly) wasn't in no tiny recession. My business was whacked. You can't blame Greespan that VCs still aren't funding businesses, but there's no one else to blame for the severity of the technology depression. We all believe it is merely coincidence that my industry is based in California, which tends to vote against Right-Wing-Kook-Hate/War/Greed-Monger politicians. Yeah, we believe in coincidences.

Just like it's a coincidence that White did his part to pirate TWENTY BILLION DOLLARS from California (coincidence, I'm tellin' ya), and then got a job with the Bush mafia. And the media are like, "wonder if Little George will be mad at him?" This guy helped steal $20 billion from people who vote against the Bush pirates. They'll freaking give him a medal of honor. Look at Ashcroft. Ashcroft's barely competent to tell someone to drape a statue, and the Kooks *love* him. Every billion bucks Enron could launder before the end meant tens or hundreds of millions more for the likes of Lay, the Bushes, Baker, the Republicans, etc. As far as we know, it's all off-shore now, run through enough shell corporations so Ashcroft can pretend he can't find it. And heck, any little whiff of scandal in Army-Enron-land is just that much less attention that can go to investigating the Bush gang's role in the Venezuela coup. "Plausible" deniability is a total laugh there. So, "No, my goodness, no," Mr. Enron Energy Fraud isn't going anywhere.
