I think I recall Jenny over at the Shifted Librarian posting something about using "google-it" on her site but in order for it to work each post needed a title. I wonder if this would work? Have to try it out when I get more time.
So here goes my first post using a Title and Link. Let's see how it works.
I haven't been posting much because I had National Guard Drill this weekend and I spent most of my time fixing two of our server that went belly up. Both are working fine now.
It looks like Dave and the Radio crew have been working overtime to get all the bug in RCS fixed. I noticed this morning that there were several updates to Radio.root that cleared up the broken links and things that weren't working on my RCS site. Great Job guys! Now if they could just add a spell checker :-)
Hopefully I'll be able to start inviting more people to join the site soon (Dave wants us to wait until more things are stable). At the rate he's going that could be any minute now. I don't think these guys sleep much!
You may be asking yourself what type of system RCS runs on. Dave's going to be posting all of the details about that soon but the beta testers, like myself, are running it on all different types of platforms.
I was running it on my Windows 2000 Server, PIII 800, 512 RAM but when the first run through was finished I decided to really give it a test and install it on my Windows .NET Enterprise Server (Dual PIII 600's on a RAID). Despite the fact that it's a beta server it's extreamly stable! A beta on a beta. Yes, I like living on the edge.
For those of you that aren't familiar with the .NET Servers, this the name Microsoft is giving to the next generation of servers, originally called Windows XP Server.
My RCS runs on my own domain using my DSL line on a static IP Address. Thankfully, it's very fast and doesn't take up too much CPU overhead or memory to run. Having a static IP Address is definately a requiement so your community of users can find the site.
