Well, things are pretty calm today, although a just-published BuzzCut by Jeff Forristal warrants some attention. It's an expansion upon an idea he started in last week's security newsletter, regarding a research paper on "crackability" of 1024-bit keys. In his story today, Jeff puts the original paper's findings together with a response from RSA, offering some very practical steps you can take to evaluate your encryption needs.

Hot dog, it's Amiga time! -- Yes, it appears that Microsoft has ceased forward motion and is now focusing on retro-ware. Much to the delight of millions of thirtysomethings, Amiga Inc. (with Microsoft's help) today announced an entertainment pack for Pocket PC, Windows CE, and Windows CE .NET devices. Boy these games just keep going and going.
