Data security over time

Peter Wayner has an interesting post on Kuro5hin.org today, targeting data retention in the enterprise -- specifically, how data becomes less secure, less necessary, and increasingly dangerous over time. As the author what looks to be an interesting book, Translucent Databases, Peter is looking for your thoughts and experiences in storing and securing data. BTW, if you're wondering just what a translucent database is, according to Peter, it's a DBMS that's scrambled using a the best encryption algorithm available at the time.

For that spring fresh feeling

Ok, it's true that caffeine makes the world go 'round...at least it does for me each morning at approximately 8:30am MST. But I think the folks at ThinkGeek have a new Caffeine Accessory on-tap (so to speak) -- ShowerShock Soap.

"Know any programmers who don't regularly bathe and need some special motivation? Introducing Shower Shock, the caffeinated soap from ThinkGeek..."
I really don't know what's worse:that someone thought of this or that it's back-ordered until the 29th.
