Anchorage is in the middle of one absolutely fantabulous heat wave. The weather has been gorgeous since last week. Alaskans know these sorts of weather boons are few and far between. We are definitely soaking up the sun!

I'm actually tan for one of the few times in my entire life!

Yesterday, I talked to Mei-Ling, my Dad's wife. It's been awhile since we chatted and I wanted to get caught up. I've really been missing Dad. And I just had this feeling that Mei-Ling was also deeply lonely.

Well, as it turns out, this past Holiday weekend, Mei-Ling, Songya and their good friend and all around great guy, Paddy drove all through the Colorado Mountains: From Grand Junction to Vail, Aspen, all the twisty side-road scary mountain passes, Colorado Springs, and finally to Boulder. And at all of Dad's favorite spots along the way, they stopped and scattered some of his ashes.

I broke down sobbing as Mei-Ling recounted the trip. We both miss Dad so much - his passing although very quick, was traumatic and basically in its own way, quietly horrific. I still can't reconcile myself to what happened to him during his last week.

However, he would have been so happy that his family who loved him so much, went on a pilgramage to each of his favorite Colorado places and left a small part of him in each location.

You just gotta love The Onion:
Bush Asks Congress For $30 Billion To Help Fight War On Criticism

WASHINGTON, DC—Citing the need to safeguard "America's most vital institutions and politicians" against potentially devastating attacks, President Bush asked Congress to sign off Monday on a $30 billion funding package to help fight the ongoing War On Criticism.

"Sadly, the threat of criticism is still with us," Bush told members of Congress during a 2 p.m. televised address. "We thought we had defeated criticism with our successes in Afghanistan and Iraq. We thought we had struck at its very heart with the broad discretionary powers of the USA Patriot Act. And we thought that the ratings victory of Fox News, America's News Channel, might signal the beginning of a lasting peace with the media. Yet, despite all this, criticism abounds."...
