Ahhh - this is the life. It's 8:20 PM and I'm out on the deck. It's still broad daylight, but the sun has swung just enough east that it has moved behind the house. So it's a delightful 65 degrees on the deck with a light breeze, sun dappled leaves, and chirping birds. Totally perfect.

Wine of the Night (actually, Last Night, but I was too smoozy to blog)
Man o Man what a fantabulous wine: 1999 Rust En Vrede. This baby is a South African claret in the Marguax style - Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Big big big spicy complex nose. The initial taste was big and very unruly - all that Syrah and some oak coming through. It continued to stay big but very quickly smoothed out - at that point the vanilla and cherry really started to come through. This is a drop dead killer wine. And the value is amazing, we paid $64 in a restaurant so it probably retails somewhere in the $30-$40 range. Buy it! It is as close as you can come to Margaux without having to pay Premier Grand Cru prices.
As was mentioned, I was a little smoozy when we got home last night. We had a rollicking good time with Mary and Pete who joined us for dinner at Jens. Between the four of us, we had two bottles of wine. So I had no more than 1/2 bottle and I don't think the alcohol content was that high - maybe 13%. But it hit me like a ton of bricks. And I have felt really bleh today - not hung over - no headache, no nausea. More like - something icky in me. I've noticed this feeling quite a bit over the past six-eight months. As my CFS/FMS has picked up a tad, my alcohol tolerance has dropped considerably. sigh...what a bummer....
