The Ski Boy and I just watched this season's second episode of Sex in the City. What a hoot. This could have been written for us.

Case in point - Charlotte is converting to Judaism. She's getting quite the education in Yiddish (putz, schmuck, and shiksa (I'm one of those!)). She also attended her first Shabbos dinner.

Second case in point - Miranda and TiVo. From our point of view, it was a total scream from the get go. Miranda's TiVo experience is a mirror of ours - right down to sitting on the TiVo remote control and blowing everything away. That has happened to us more than once. Currently, a TiVo battle is raging in our house: Pooh's (son of Ski Boy)TiVos of Rugby and the World Series of Poker have blown away treasured (and unviewed) episodes of Sex in the City and West Wing. The battle may escalate.

I finished the new Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix this afternoon. I thought it was great! It started out a tad cantankerously - Harry is in the midst of adolescent angst and anger, which, as is also the case in real life, a bit tiresome. However, things really do start to take off and roar relentlessly to a super finish.

Prior to reading the book, I was quite worried that J.K Rowling would succumb to Anne Rice disease - completely lose the ability to write well once commercial success is achieved. But Rowling came through just fine.

Other than perhaps, The Prisoner of Azkaban, this may be my favorite Potter book.

Here's the same picture as below. However, Niek really spruced it up! At the original picture's full size, it looked really great. But when I reduced it, it definitely lost some of its punch. But Niek's magic absolutely re-energized it. Here's his description of what he did:
I applied some extra Unsharp Mask on the whole image. And I brightened up the two guys in the shot. I used the lasso tool to select them, feathered the selection with 12 pixels or so and made the selection lighter. You don't notice because of the Feather.
