I have the most incredible Mom in the whole world!
Here she is receiving the Howard A. Cutler Award from the Alaska Council on Economic Education.
To her immediate right is Vernon Smith winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Economics. To Vernon's - I'm not sure if it's skookum Nobel protocol to refer to a Nobel Prize winner as Vernon, but after all he's hanging with my Mom, so Vernon it is.
Anyhoo, to Vernon's left is Scott Hawkins, presenter and member of the Alaska Council on Economic Education.
My Mom is rubbing elbows with a Nobel Prize winner!
And by the way, doesn't she look smashing?!!!!

So the big question is - can I stay up another two hours? If I could, I'd zoom over to Barnes and Noble at Midnight to pick up the new Harry Potter book. However, I'm going to be an old fuddy duddy and wait until morning.
The timing of this book is perfect. Peter, Mom, and I are spending next week in Valdez at the 11th Annual Last Frontier Theatre Conference.
You might sniff at the thought of a theatre conference in Valdez (of all places). But let me tell you, this conference attracts a who's who. Edward Albee, Romulus Linney, Laura Linney, Patricia Neal, Angela Bassett, Chris Noth (Mr. Big!). The list goes on and on. We should have a blast. But we won't be hobnobbing the whole time - a big fat fun read like the new Harry Potter book will be perfect for the downtimes.
