o.k.
Today was one of those drop dead peak life experience days. Mom and I had lunch with Patricia Neal. Yup. Mom, Patricia, and I did lunch. Pretty amazing.
Patricia's delightfully funny and sweet long time companion Warren joined us as did their close friend Joel Vig, a very droll and talented actor who also does the most incredible spot on imitations of Patricia's voice and mannerisms.
The backstory (as they say) on this luncheon is that it was my Mother's Day present to Mom. Three months ago, at the Concert Association's Oscar Gala, there was a silent auction item entitled, "Lunch with Patricia Neal." And it included two passes to the Last Frontier Theatre Conference. Well, Mom is just a giant Patricia Neal fan, so I, of course, had to bid and within reason, bid to win - which I did. So here we are - doing the whole theatre scene and lunching with a Legend and her friends.
Lunch was over the top. Just five people laughing - uproariously at times, telling stories, and sharing histories. There was no awkwardness, no pretention at all. Just a very special time.
