Argh...I inadvertantly blew away my very cute loon post. So here's my attempt to recreate it.
When we last left the Connor's Bog Loon Cam, the nesting loon pair were sitting on two eggs. Well, late last week the eggs hatched and now we have a very cute pair of little grey fuzzy chicks. It's a blast to watch the parents and chicks on the loon cam. As I type, they're swimming around and there's lots of interaction between the chicks and adults. What a treat.
However, as a friend and I discussed yesterday, after just a bit of viewing, one becomes quite attached to the little loon family. I am going to be totally bummed if in a "Circle of Life" moment, a Bald Eagle swoops down and snatches one of the chicks.

Thanks to Bob Walp, a GCI co-founder and an absolute gem of a human being, I'm back on an Edward Tufte kick. Bob gave me Tufte's new work, a short but deadly little publication, The Cognitive Style of Power Point. I read it today and am still digesting it. I'll have quite a bit to say about it in the next few days
However, after reading the paper, I knocked about on Tufte's superb Ask ET page. I stumbled across the most marvelous link to the animation of A Day in the Life of Air Traffic Over the Continental U.S. This is a must view - although even over a broadband connection it will take a few minutes to load. It is fascinating. Being an Alaskan, I get a particular kick out of watching the planes head off towards Alaska from Seattle, Salt Lake, and Minneapolis.

More 2003 Alaska Run for Women Porta Potties!
GCI had the winning porta-potty in the decorated porta potty competition! A pretty snazzing looking phone. Kudos to Al Contreras and Pebbles Athanasiou-Harris for a great design and execution of the design!

This is a very artsy porta-potty-picture. I unfortunately cannot take credit for it. I don't know who took the pix.
