So. Mark finished the Iditarod late Friday evening and was back at work today. Pretty amazing!!!
You should see his official Iditarod Finisher's Belt Buckle. Pretty darn spiffy!!!!
He definitely got the max out of two weeks of leave time. As Mark put it, "I just tell everyone that I took my 'motorhome' out on the road for two weeks."
Here's the last official internal GCI update:
Three cheers for Mark Moderow, who arrived in Nome Friday night. He mushed across the finish line beneath the burled arch on Front Street at 11:34 p.m. with 13 dogs in his team plus one tired pup enjoying the experience from the basket.
David Morris reports from Nome:
He made it into Nome about 11:30 p.m. with 13 dogs and one in the basket. It was blowy, cold and biting but he had a considerable crowd awaiting him under the arch -- (in my opinion, it was the who's who of the Iditarod and had the most VIPs present since the first place finisher). Deb, Mark's wife, and Hannah, his daughter, were ecstatic; haven't been able to hook up with Andy yet. In true Legal & Regulatory Affairs fashion, when presented with a $150 bottle of champagne and a $3 bottle of beer, Mark opted for the beer.
