As I've been blogging and IM'ing with Phil we've each received 3 robocalls in the past fifteen minutes. We've both received 6 calls total today. Our last call was from "Earl" from Fairbanks wanting us to vote for Lisa. Phil's last call was from "Tracy" pushing for Tony.

UPDATE: As I was typing this entry, Phil just received his call from Earl.

Well - tonight's the last night for these stupid calls. They will not be missed.

And by the way, I firmly believe that if the Red Sox could win the World Series, then John Kerry can win tomorrow's election.

Well, tomorrow's the big day. I'd like to say that all the hoopla will be at end. However, I'm envisioning repeat of 2000 - a very close election whose outcome will be unclear for several days at least. ugh...

I plan to be at my polling place bright and early tomorrow morning - 7:00 AM. And right after I vote, I head over to KLEF radio to do an interview/promo for the Concert Association's presentation of "Bang on a Can and Philip Glass". This is all way too much activity way too early in the morning for this Slat Rat. However, if I had wanted to, I could have easily voted early this evening. I was at City Hall for a meeting and walked past the early voting room - which was doing a brisk business. But, I decided to wait until tomorrow. It's a bonding thing - I want to vote when everyone else does.

So, here's the Slat Rat's endorsed slate (a sure kiss of death):

  • Kerry. By the way, this week's New Yorker has a tremendous editorial endorsing Kerry. Man, it's too bad the Kerry campaign didn't present the message as eloquently as the New Yorker.
  • Tony on the Senate front - this one was a very tough decision. I like Lisa a great deal - very smart, competent, hard worker, etc. But her swing to the right was too far - or not far enough - see below.
  • Don Young - amazingly, over the years Don has swung so far to the right that he's turning into a libertarian. I like his stand on the Patriot Act.
  • Les Gara who's done an excellent job as our State House Representative.
  • Against Prop. 1 - I think the initiative process is a good thing.
  • For Prop. 2 - by announcing that I am actually voting for the Marijuana Bill, I've ruined any chance I'll ever have for public office. shucks...
  • For Prop. 3 - Bear baiting is just not fair and should be outlawed.
That pretty much covers it.

GO VOTE TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!
