As I type, I'm sitting on my bed in the Comfort Inn in Winfield, Kansas, sipping on Grand Marnier and munching on chocolate chip cookies. I have to say that I truly adore Kansas. I think Kansans are about the nicest people on the face of the planet.

Which is good. Because the little Slat Rat soul is totally devastated by yesterday's election. I thought about throwing myself into the Inlet last night.

However, it helped to spend the entire day from 7:30 AM in Anchorage to 11:00 PM in Kansas, traveling in a sort of coccoon. The flight from Anchorage to Minneapolis was 5 hours - 6 if you count the hour we spent on the Anchorage tarmac de-icing in the middle of a blizzard. The flight from Minneapolis to Wichita was about 2 hours and then there was the hour drive to Winfield. So, all in all I avoided getting pummeled by the media or happy conservative coworkers.

I admit it. I'm a coward. I just did not want to face today.

The Ski Boy will tell you that I was a fairly grumpy camper last night and this morning. But by this afternoon, I sort of emerged from grumphood. I started thinking about what had happened. I decided in a burst of Pollyana-hood that this may actually be a good thing. If the democrats take advantage of where they're at. I'll do a whole big blog entry on my theory in the next few days. But things may not be quite as grim as we think.
