Last night, my geocaching buddy, Scott and I took the plunge (no - not that kind of plunge). We attended our first geocaching group event. The purpose of last night's gathering was to distribute the newly minted, and very cool, Alaska Geocoins. Many of the big names in Anchorage geocaching were planning to be there.
Both Scott and I were a tad nervous - we wondered just how high the geek quotient would be at this little gathering. But geek-ery was not a problem at all and we actually had a delightful time - some very fun folks indeed. And our new Alaska geocoins are pretty darn spiffy!!!!! I'm very excited!
The event was held out at the Kincaid Chalet. And of course, Scott and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do some caching in the area - we picked up 1 1/2 caches. The 1/2 cache was the first stage of a multi-cache. Scott and I will go back to Kincaid next week to nab the last stage(s).
Definitely a fun geocaching evening.
As Scott observed, the question has been answered - bears do shit in the woods. This was fairly recent pile. Within the past few days.

Here's Scott signing the log for Eagle View. I have to say he looks a tad out of place in his corporate clothes in the deep woods.
