Tuesday, the Ski Boy and I did a little pre dinner geocaching out at Kincaid Park. We did one easy cache and then decided to make a run at Herbie's Cousin. It's quite easy to find ground zero - Herbie's Cousin is an abandonded derelict gutted Morris Minor located deep in Kincaid. It's really quite the little sight - it's kind of cool!
Finding the cache however was not so simple - it's a black plastic film canister and those puppies are small. And this gutted Morris Minor has a million knooks and crannies. The Ski Boy and I spend about ten minutes searching about - to no avail. I can't tell you how many times I opened the hood, dug around in the glove compartment, or reached way back into the headlights. We had to give up because we were late meeting Jim for dinner.
But, the next day (yesterday), via IM, I convinced Scott that Herbie's Cousin was a great little cache. So off we went, in the early evening, dragging along Arthur. We arrived at the cache location without any issues - although I was a little concerned about Arthur - he was wearing a short sleeve shirt and mosquitos were fierce the night before. But as it turns out, mosquitos were not an issue and Arthur was not who I needed to worry about. As Scott was rooting about in the Morris, he all at once jumped about ten feet backwards and started flayling about - he'd been stung by a bee - twice. Once on top of the head and once on the cheek. Fortunately, Scott is made of pretty tough stuff - the stings only slightly swelled and it took only a minute or two for him to decompress and then he was right back hunting for the cache!!!
We quickly found it - the film canister was tucked up under the dash to the left of the steering wheel! A great little hide and a very fun cache - other than the marauding bee!
