Since I arrived back from last week's jaunt Outside, the weather here in Anchorburg has been postively arctic. Low 30's with a very very nasty north wind. Big time brrr....
Not at all what one would hope for on Easter. It's doubly cruel - On Thursday, I was in Salt Lake City for the day (a quick trip over from Seattle to see my fabulous CFS doc, Dr. Bateman). The weather in Salt Lake was 75 degrees and sunny. The jonquils and lilacs were in full bloom. The air was fragrant and sleepily warm. That's what Easter weather is all about!
Getting down to brass tacks - what does this sudden reversal of global warming mean for the Fifth Annual Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic? Well, the ice has definitely melted a bit around the edges in the past week. The snow layer is definitely thinner. I certainly wouldn't walk out on the ice. But, all that being said, it doesn't look like the ice is going anywhere soon. I'll try to get down to get a picture within the next day or two.
So far we have four early entries in the ice classic - all clustered around the last days of April and the first few days of May. So, the remainder of you prognosticators had better get your entries in.
