At last, after much effort and refining, my new geocache, Little Pictures - Anchorage is up and running. As I wrote on my cache listing, the idea was shamelessly co-opted from Little Pictures - a totally fabulous San Jose cache.
Little Pictures - Anchorage was a bear to actually implement. I had an idea of where I wanted to start and where I wanted to end, so I plotted out a potential route on a map. I then headed out to take pictures. Well, I just got so excited, that I deviated a bit from my planned route and ended up with a whopping 25 pictures. Definite scope creep.
Then, I worked with the geocache administrators to make the cache fit into the new geocaching guidelines. I actually think I ended up with a better cache. Yesterday, Peter, Tyge and I went out and walked the cache course and put up little stickers at many (but not all) of the the pictures. The stickers provide the coordinates to the next cache. Today, I walked the cache course one last time to verify the sticker coordinates and see how the stickers held up after a night of rain. Not bad - but I will definitely need to hunt down some totally tough, outdoorsy, permanent, stickers.
So - as I type, the cache has not yet been found. But it was just published a few hours ago. But I already received some props from a fellow cacher. Although, after he tries the cache, he may hate me!
But, I am sooooo excited.
