Wow, you've gotta love these two opening paragraphs from the KTUU story on the
Whoever said that public service doesn't pay never worked at the Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority.
The top three executives of the bridge authority created by the state received massive raises during a closed-door meeting in June, totaling more than $100,000. The raises came for executives who still don't have a plan, financing or approval to build a bridge from Anchorage to the Mat-Su Valley.
The KABATA salary story is spreading like wildfire. I was interviewed both by KTUU (the video has not yet been posted) and Alaska Public Radio (APRN). I suffered from a bad case of the "you knows" in my APRN inteview, but once you wade your way through the "you know" flood, my points were pretty valid. The raises are unbelievable and show a total disregard and complete lack of understanding of public process. Of course, that's typical of KABATA's approach of the last two years. I've been around the block more than once, but I have to say that KABATA takes the cake in regards to arrogant disregard for constructive public involvement.
It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
