DevCon 2002 - Prelude to the storm... - LOL. Well it *might* storm, after all this is Florida in the Autumn, but really the 'storm' is coming tomorrow at 7am with the keynote and the general session.
So far there are about 1500 people registered and in attendence and they were all at the pool just now at the opening reception. Ran into Ray West who is here as a sponsor and a member of the press for MXInsite Magazine. Ray had some interesting news about TODCON for next year. This year's TODCON was awsome and excellent and I am very much looking forward to future conferences.
For those of you on the forums, I ran into Brian Hogue and we had a great conversation on the future of the internet and how HTML and Flash and other technologies fit into that. Brian was talking alot about Rich Internet Applications and seems to have a idea that it is really going to solve some complex problems for him. Also mentioned that he prints out the articles in DesDev and annotates them. Cool to hear that. We think DesDev is awesome ourselves so people let us know how they use it really helps us define its future.
If anyone wants to see pictures of the hotel, let me know and I will post a few. Typical Disney. Expensive, themed and very well done.
The plane ride in was very nice except for the unbelievably rude flight staff and desk staff of the airlines. On two separate occasions, when I asked for service, I was told to "write a letter". I will take that advice... Really it was a case study in bad customer service. However that got me to thinking what Macromedia can do better. I am at a great venue to bring those concerns up so if you have things that we need to know, let me know and I will try to get that to the right people.
