Are you using e-commerce? You want to read this - Seems a bright *fellow* in San Diego has bought up a number of patents that may govern all online e-commerce transactions. I know it sounds wierd, but a lawyer, an idea and a bank account can mean a real headache for you. The companies they are suing are almost all literally mom and pop shops....

ColdFusion MX error - This one put me on my bum for a couple weeks so I thought I would mention it here. On Win2K, I installed CFMX and it installed fine. However in the administrator trying to create a datasourse I got the following error:

Connection verification failed for data source: cfsnippets
[]java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your username, password, URL, and other connectivity info.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: SQLException occurred in JDBCPool while attempting to connect, please check your username, password, URL, and other connectivity info.

No matter what I did, nothing worked. My final solution which did work was to repair Win2K from the Win2K installer. When you boot from the Win2K install CD, there are two choices, repair and reistall. Chose reinstall. When prompted there, then you can chose to repair instead of reinstall. *THAT* repair works differently than the first repair choice. When you repair here, it reinstalls any files that are damaged or missing. Once I did that, I  rebooted after that repair, and installed Win2K SP2 and then MDAC 2.6 and then CFMX again. With that, the administrator worked fine. I have seen others with this issue and no firm answer so I thought I should post my experience here.
