Rears Its Ugly Head 'Free' Costello CD seeds DRM, MS Media Player 9. And 'I can't do that right now' hardware surfaces... [The Register]
It's never too early to start saying "no" to DRM. Here we have one of the first examples of peripherals supporting Microsoft's DRM technology. Surprise, surprise, the only mention of DRM is in a README file on the installation media. Nothing in the marketing materials, nothing in the manual.
Wouldn't it be great if the commerce department would do their job and require manufacturers to label products bearing DRM technology? Then we could make informed decisions rather than being kept in the dark by a cartel of industry giants hoping to force DRM down our throats.
Psst ... stores hate it when you bring stuff back.
