Untapped Networks
What do Microsoft, Kevin Bacon, and cell-signaling pathways have in common? According to sociologist Duncan Watts, all three are part of the new science of networks.

Q&A with Duncan Watts

On Sept 12, 100,000 people had no office to go to. One week later they did. How did they do it? The Network effect. How can Msft deal better with the security issues of their software? By stopping the vain effort to make it more secure and by dismantling it into separate parts? Sound counter intuitive? It's the network effect - great article!

Nine out of 10 Canadian students older than 26 owe about $20,500 in
student loans, says a new study.

It now costs about $60,000 for a 4 year BA. If you have 12 year old now think about $100,000. Surely we will hit the wall soon? My sense is that the smart school will offer a sandwich deal. 2 year residential plus the rest online for 1/3 to half the price
