Here is a good link to the unfolding SAR's epidemic. It has a really bad feel to it - like the flu in 1918 which killed (20) No 40! million people
It seems that we know nothing about how to treat this or what it is yet. Can we as bloggers help?
My sense is that each place that gets a new case is on its own. How can we help connect everyone so that they can learn/work fast enough to contain this? If I was the PEI Public Health guy (Monty Sweet) I would wonder what we would do here when it arrives. I would want to be looking now at all the real time info about how cases develop and if any treatment works. I would want to get a sense of how infectious this bugger is - looks as if it is very infectious. Why? Because I may have to close all the schools, restrict travel etc. These are heavy duty decisions and I want to be sure. I would want to track the map of where the outbreaks are - to see a pattern if any and so on.
I am only a novice blogger and not a doctor but I sense that blogging has huge potential in this type of unfolding situation. Any thoughts out there from those of you who know more?
