No Need to Say It

Among the many activities we enjoyed with the Haverford crew in Colorado--rafting, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, sitting on a rock by the river--our communal dinners were a high point. For one thing, we were starving after all that fun. For another, Ann Figueredo made two great meals for 30, and Jessica Kibel did the third, and there was always a good friend or two or six to sit with and talk. One thing I noticed was that none of us got up and made a toast to our friends Doug Gardner and Calvin Gooding, even though their deaths on 9/11 helped bring us all together by the banks of the Fryingpan. I'm a habitual toaster, but I just never felt the need, because all I could have said to this particular group would have been: "You know it, you feel it, you share it." Each of them could have said the same thing.

The Other Howard

Howard Coble is a critical link in fighting the digilante bill--he's a co-sponsor and the chairman of the House subcommittee involved. But what about the bill's author, Howard Berman? Where are the bloggers and blogger/journalists in his SoCal district, the 26th? That's down past Doc Searls country, but maybe he knows somebody in Berman's area. Doc?

Tara Grubb Speaks

From the comments box for the "Meet Tara Grubb" post below: "I have one issue, liberty, I have one topic, P2P...I have put my work on hold to rock the Coble boat...Who can help me about this 'Paypal?'"

The Libertarian candidate opposing Hollywood Howard Coble has an almost impossible task. But say this for her: she recognizes an opportunity when she sees one. Can the online world make a difference in her campaign?
