Dave's Crystal Ball
Almost two years ago, Dave Winer told me that weblogs would become a way for people in a given place to "let the world know what's really happening." Now here I am covering Tara Grubb, Howard Coble, and P2P from my own back yard. Good call, Dave.
Weblogs should become an increasingly important source of locally-reported news that has national or international implications. Interesting local stories will travel via the weblog network to online and print media, maybe to radio and TV. And as Dave said in 2000, this will have a political impact. "It should be like a militia, like the Second Amendment. You can't beat the US governmnent with handguns, but you can with information."

USA Today blurbs glibly, misses much.
