Governor Dean On Fire in Texas
Governor Dean on Fire in Texas. The whole travelling staff is euphoric after the Sleepless Summer San Antonio rally -- the Governor was on fire -- the crowd was electrified -- and so many people were watching the live feed that it halted a few times (thanks Sally in SF, and all who watched, for your recap(s) in the last post).
The Governor talked for a while tonight about the sense of loss in the American community, and the importance of building a new American community. The new American community is already beginning -- here on this blog, in your towns, at your Meetups, in your phone conversations and emails.
During his speech, something else extraordinary happened, quite quietly. The 1,000th Get Local event was scheduled for August. One thousand local Dean events lighting up this incredible August. Nothing like this has ever happened before.
Thank you to this radiant, powerful, sleepless, committed community, speaking so loudly that the country cannot help but hear -- the next 36 days before the end of September are our days.
Let's get the bat to $700,000 in the Million Dollar Challenge before the Grassroots Express leaves Texas! Only $18,000 to go -- contribute here for the power of Sleepless grassroots, and to show that Texas is Dean country. [Blog for America]

The Value of Weblog Trackbacks
Reminds me of the Pete Townshend song, "So Sad About Us."
Trackback is about the surfers, the visitors, the READERS, not the author. If they go to your site they can look at the trackbacks and find a new blog to read. If they go to my site, for instance, they may see that The Cartoonist has posted something from Mediaburn. They may then go to his site and find out that The Insekt Limited is precisely what they need! ;o)
It gives everybody's weblog some exposure... to the wandering and random readers. - G.S.
So sad ... Radio's TrackBack is not working at all. No trackbacks ... sniff. I'll give it another week. And then I'm probably going to find out that I will have to modify certain ports on my Firewall, which is HELL - I'm using a NOKIA IP55 router. Oh Bugger - I hate this Internet stuff. And I still don't understand: who needs TrackBack anyway, when we have technorati? Or am I missing something? I must be, I'm just a Cartoonist. Heh. So please - enlighten me. [The Cartoonist]

Dean Tour, Seattle to Spokane - Austin to San Antonio
Next Stop: Texas!.
The wheels are up on the Grassroots Express, and Howard Dean is on his way to Austin-- bringing his message of hope and restoring the American community into the heart of Texas. From Austin, the "Get on Board with Dean" bus ride will commence to San Antonio.
The Governor will be airborne until 6:15 ET. As of 3 pm, 10,390 Americans have contributed $604,767.69 to the Sleepless Summer Challenge, bringing us well on our way to raising a million dollars by the end of the tour, tomorrow at midnight. Let's surprise Dean by the time his plane lands in Texas. Now is the time to make your contribution to the tour. Let's help Dean arrive in Texas with people-power behind him!

Hey - I have an idea. Let's reduce our dependence on fossil fuels from the Middle East. Let's use Hydrogen (Fuel Cells), Wind, Solar, and Hydro-electric. What a concept! ;o)

Dr. David Weinberger - Howard Dean House Blogger
Sleepless Notes. I've posted some pretty mediocre snapshots from the Dan campaign's Sleepless Summer Tour. The Sleepless Tour is being well-blogged by guest blogger Natasha C. 15,000 people turned out for the Seattle rally. That is incredible. And 5,000 in Portland, OR; Portland is not a big city. (We lived there for a year and I can promise you that it is a beautiful city, though.) Garance Franke-Ruta of The American Prospect says that what's happening is better understood as a movement than as a campaign. The size and fervor and grass-rootedness of the crowds supports that reading...... [Joho the Blog]

Very Large Crowds in Seattle - 10,000+
You Gotta Believe.
Joe Trippi believing in Seattle tonight.
You showed such extraordinary power everywhere across the country today, in the rallies, on the blog, in your donations and in bringing in new people.
With the force of your belief -- that every individual can make a difference -- moments like this can happen -- and keep happening, and happening, and happening, until the Dean grassroots is an unstoppable force, until we take back the White House, until politics comes from the people again.
