State Department E-Journals

Rebuilding Afghanistan

President Bush announced the construction of the Kabul-Kandahar-Herat highway yesterday.  The project is a cooperative initiative with Japan and Saudi Arabia.  It is good to see this kind of thing proceeding.  USAID has a nice site outlining the scope and focus of U.S. international aid activities in Afghanistan.

According to the latest emergency situation report, about two million refugees have returned home this year.  The OFDA Reports Index provides situational reports for emergency situations all over the globe.
