Last Friday at 1:00 am, I received a call from the Tooele County Sheriff.  It was a call that I was not looking forward to, but which I was expecting after learning of a single car accident involving two of our employees.  The accident, which occured 6 miles west of Simpson Springs resulted in the death of Jonathan Skoubye and serious injury to Rodney Swaner.

I just returned from Jonathan's funeral.  He was only 25.  Jonathan was a model employee.  His obituary states that he died doing the GIS work that he loved (you can find his name in the metadata).

Organizations are interesting things.  We work hard to optimize, to improve productivity, to focus on the customer and on results.  This type of occurence brings out the human element and emphasizes how important it is.
