BBC's Smart Moblog. Nearly a million phone cameras have been sold in the UK, and if the experience of Japan is anything to go by, soon millions of us will have the ability to send pictures from our mobile phones.
And with digital cameras, people are now regularly taking pictures and sending them around the world within hours, sometimes sooner. [Smart Mobs] [John Lawlor: blogs4business]

Everyone is pointing to this BBC article, and rightly so. They are welcoming amateur journalists. This is so right on. [Scripting News]

Bob Frankston: Email Is Still Just a Toy. The reality of email falls short of what we should expect and that is just one more reminder of how little we take advantage of the potential of these technologies even as they become fundamental to society. [Tomalak's Realm]

Tom's Hardware Guide rates DVD burners.
Tom's Hardware Guide puts DVD burners to the test, trying out three drives that use DVD+R/RW (the Philips DVDRW228, the Ricoh MP5125A, and the Sony DRU120A), two that use DVD-R/RW (the Pioneer DVR-A05 and the TEAC DV-W50E), and one that writes to both standards (the Sony DRU-500A, pictured at right). Fortunately, the article also goes over the different standards, explaining their differences, which are mainly the result of a stupid dispute among hardware manufacturers. Their conclusion, perhaps not surprisingly, is that when it comes down to it there is little discernible difference between the drives, but that the DVD-R/RW drives are better for archiving data, and the DVD+R/RW drives are better for video. And that if you're willing to spend the extra cash, the DRU-500A from Sony just about solves that problem. Read Amazon [Gizmodo]

Tammy and I are in the midst of planning a road trip this summer. Should be fun. Right now, we're looking at heading out east - ending up in Boston and then driving back through New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Canada.
