This is the second article I've read today on customer satisfaction and the inability of companies to track it correctly. I remember the last time I was in the VW dealership having work done to my Jetta. The service guy reminded me I would get a call from VW headquarters and that the would like me to put more than a good word in for them.
This happened when I was in Lansing too. When called, I left unsatisfactory remarks to VW HQ and was called the next day by the dealership to ask for my reasons. I wouldn't say I was harrassed, but they certainly were not happy about my words.
Don't get me wrong I love my Jetta. I just think they have the emphasis on the wrong things.
I've got to imagine Volkswagen puts such a high price on customer satisfaction that it has backfired on them. The dealers are worried about getting high marks that the information is skewed by covering the truth.
