Signal vs. Noise: "UPS spends millions and millions on a new identity/logo and a revamped web site, yet they're still missing the point when it comes to the simplest of things that can make or break an online shipping experience: form buttons." [via lawrence's notebook]

"tmio.jpgFrom a company called Tonight's Menu Intelligent Ovens of a prototype of a microwave that can be controlled from a cellphone or over the Internet and that can cook food and then refrigerate it until it's ready to be eaten. The idea is to save time, but it still won't do much about the fact that most food cooked in a microwave tastes like crap." [Via Slashdot and Gizmodo]

"Not particularly insightful article in Reuters about the future of PC design that does have one juicy tidbit of information towards the end - that HP is planning a new device called the Scout that falls somewhere between an ultralight laptop and a PDA:

About the size of an old-fashioned day planner, the flat-panel screen tilts up and has a retractable keyboard. In discussions with customers, Landry says people often say about HP's popular iPaq that they wish it had a larger keyboard or a larger display.

Of course there's no word in the piece about when the Scout might see the light of day." [Via TabletPCBuzz and Gizmodo]

I just finally got around to using my allotted funny money ($500) at Blogshares.  I think the idea is cool - a "fantasy stock market for weblogs" where you can buy stock in weblogs valued by inbound and outbound links.

Here's my logic: I purchase some shares of Gizmodo on the thought that I like what I read there (buy what you like, buy what you know?) and that they might be a undervalued because Peter has been out galavanting in Europe at Mobius. Links are a little low.  They should come back up.  After reading Jason Kottke's most recent post, I should have stopped by to pick up some of his too... would have been a great buy until a little while ago!
