Sputnik releases Linux-based WiFi AP This looks really cool.  From what it sounds like it is pretty inexpensive compared to the competition.  A perfect candidate for promoting and managing public wifi networks. "Dave "Technorati" Sifry and Sputnik have released their first Linux-based, commodity hardware WiFi access point. The Sputnik AP is self-configuring, secure, and open to hacking -- based on Seth Schoen's Bootable Business Card Linux distro. Sweet." "Just set up a Sputnik Central Control installation anywhere within your network, and then start plugging in Sputnik AP 120s right into your LAN. The AP 120s autoconfigure themselves, seek out Central Control, and automatically implement a wide range of security and management features, like dynamic firewalling, SSL-based user authentication, usage tracking, and policy routing. Central control allows administrators to easily set up and configure the captive portal, manage users, monitor AP usage, and generate reports. Gone are custom MAC address tables or per-AP configuration - and when you want to cover more area, simply purchase more AP 120s and plug them into your LAN." I almost lost my head... I had to write this somewhere.  Yesterday, I picked up a replacement water filter for the fridge at Home Despot.  This evening I went about replacing it . Strangely, the filter is installed in the basement utility room along with the furnace - not as part of the refridgerator.  Don Norman would have a cow. Tammy and I rarely go into that room. Between the time I went down there on Sunday to get the model number and when I installed it Monday evening two mice where beheaded.  I don't normally get grossed out by these things, but I had a problem with picking up four parts of two mice. Don't purchase a "Victor Quick Set Mouse & Rat Trap" -- the end result turns out nothing like the instructions.  Opt for one of their other ones. I was poking around a little too much and found Corky's Do it Yourself which stocks the mouse trap.  The description was worth its weight in gold: the mouse trap has a "stylish, modern look." I always thought pest control was a crucial aspect of home decor. HP's h5600: the Pocket PC that never was "HP has quietly scrapped its h5600 line of wireless Pocket PCs. The line was never officially unveiled, but from early reports it looked like there would have been two models, one with GSM and GPRS, the other with CDMA. Both would have had built-in Bluetooth."
