A few days ago I heard about a telecom service that allows you to call internationally at low rates.  The service is Les Minutes, and their France-USA rate is 5 cents/minute (ok, it's Euro 0.05/minute)!!  Phenomenal.  Apparently, they buy excess bandwidth from bigger carriers and resell it.  Goodness knows that the world is drowning in bandwidth, so this makes perfect sense.  I'll report back when I've tried it a few times.

Another day, another close encounter with death by boredom in Accounting class.  Could our professor go any slower?  I know nothing about accounting and even I'm bored.  I do need to study, though, so that is what I will be doing Friday and Saturday.

On the bright side, the topic that I and my class partner proposed for a paper in "Ethical Dilemma" was approved.  Here it is:

We propose to review the teachings of Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince", to explore how his theories of ethical behavior can be used to navigate through ethical dilemmas experienced today. In particular, we aim to examine the crisis in business credibility, as expressed in current events, to gain suggestions of ways to improve the relationship between commercial entities and their social environment. Machiavelli's codes of ethics for leaders have particular relevance to today's problems surrounding the role of the CEO and senior executives, and we hope to uncover lessons that can ameliorate the business climate of today.

I've long had a fascination with Machiavelli, and for some years I used to keep a copy of "The Prince" in my topcoat.  I think this will be very interesting, and I am excited about it.
