Lucky has lost his Insead identification card.  He is now travelling back in time, trying to pin down the last place he handled it...

  • It's not in his various jackets
  • It's not in his car
  • It's not in his bag

Lucky is close to despair...

Lucky has found his ID, in one of his cool jackets in which he was shopping last weekend.  Lucky is happy.

Yesterday, I purchase a pair of climbing shoes.  Yes, I already have a wonderful pair, but they are in storage several thousand miles away, and I find myself in some of the best bouldering terrain in all Europe.  There are literally hundreds of bouldering routes in the Fontainebleau forest, and I have met several climbers in the last few weeks.  I figured that I would buy the shoes now so that they would be broken in by the time I got around to using them, probably at least a month away.

My feet are in agony.

I spent about an hour in the sports store, trying on different sizes.  All the sizes were on the rack, so it was very DIY; no clerks to assist you.  This would have been great, except that none of the shoe sizes corresponded to the rack on which they sat, so I had to go through many pairs to narrow down my choices.  I had decided to get another pair of La Sportiva slippers; I have a wonderful pair of Vipers at home and wanted to stay with the same brand.  Apparently the Vipers are discontinued, or else they have been renamed Cobras; go figure.  First I tried the 40, then 39 1/2, then 39... and they were still slipping a little on my heel.  There is nothing I love more than sticking a high heel hook on a ledge, so I was intent on getting a tight pair.  Unfortunately there were no 38 1/2, only 38, which I could barely fit my foot into.  No matter; I bought them.  After reading several review that advocated "aggressive downsizing" I do feel a bit relieved, since right now I can only wear them for 10 minutes at a stretch!!

I spent a good eight hours today studying Accounting.  I still think that it is interesting, and I know there is a lot of value understanding how transactions affect the financial picture of a company.  Also, I now understand why most people find it to be incredibly tedious.  I wonder if it could be taught in a more interesting fashion?  There is certainly a tremendous market open to someone who figures out how to do that.
