March 14 is Einstein's birthday. Not to mention Pi day (Einstein's birthday in Pi is obvious for 314 ... if you are looking for 03141879, you'll find it at position 60203039 and the surrounding digits and string are 97092826945094858477 03141879 83538670898428189663) Since Einstein loved music (good and bad), it seems reasonable to note a really strange physics music collection from 1947. I've been waiting for months for the right moment to share this one. 5:39:09 AM     Several people (notably Joi Ito) have been recommending Notetaker. Essentially a database that allows you to easily dump nearly anything into it, automatically indexing as you do. I'm giving the trial version a go and will report on it later. It looks interesting and potentially useful. __ Another interesting application is Audio Hijack Pro. I've "been using it as an audio TiVo and was intending to pen a review, but John Manzione has already done just that. Going from one compressed format to another can cause problems, but selecting mp3 generally don't sound too bad on my iPod and it is very convenient. 5:38:46 AM     Remember the price fixing class action suit against the record industry? It appears the payoff (if approved) will be a whopping $12.60. Assuming the industry made a few bucks in illegal profit on each CD for the period (which seems to square with most estimates), I lost about $600. You can tell where I won't be spending my big $12.60 check. I will buy music with it - just from a used record store. 5:38:20 AM     And finally - the Science Museum of Minnesota has a very nice kid's site devoted to the exploration of Catalhoyuk in Turkey.
