Hockey Night in Greensboro It's rare but I will go into a little self-promotion here: Tomorrow night (Sunday) at 8:00pm will be the championship game of the Men's A League at the Greensboro Ice House (Behind Sports Authority just off Wendover and Bridford Parkway). It's not going to be quite up to AHL or ECHL standards and they give penalties for checking, but if you love hockey your attendence will be worth your while. In the semi-finals round there were several worthy goals that could have made the ESPN highlight film. The Monarchs and Generals are long gone but some of their former players participate in our league. The star of our team is 39 year-old Bobby Halkidis who played as a defenseman across 12 years in the NHL. There will be some Triad bragging rights at stake too as most of our BullFeathers team, captained by man-about-town Phil Segal, are from the Greensboro area while most of our opponents on Arne's Army, captained by Rich Arneson, are from the Winston-Salem area. Come on out for some fun on Sunday night. Admission is free. There will be a party at Coopers Ale House on Market Street after the game (around 10:00pm) Added bonus: Even if you don't come out to the game, you can go to sleep early knowing that none of your tax dollars are being used to subsidize it. 11:53:49 AM![]() |
