Bringing it all back home...

Cryptography was first used to record a glaze formula.

From 1500BC Mesopotamia, a small 2x3 inch cuneiform tablet contained an encrypted glaze formula. This is the first historical example of a cypher.

OK, I'm not surprised that a trade secret, written in one of the earliest forms of writing, placed on material that could last thousands of years, would be the first evidence we have of a cypher.

I do like how it combines my interests in clay, information , and puzzles.
