"Commercial Glazes" con't So you see a nice vase with a bright white glaze...and you are thinking, "Hey, that would go great in the kitchen!" Would the vases appeal diminish if you knew it was glazed with something called "Refrigerator White"? How about that appealing blue vase with a glaze called "Angel Eye's"? Would you think differently if you knew the glaze was also called "Cash Flow Blue" (Jack Troy)? The meaning of the glaze's name does effect one's understanding of the pottery. Sometimes the names potters use when talking to each other need to be descriptive in a way that would not help pitching the piece to a possible buyer. 6:40:43 AM |
