L'Astree- Glaze names cont' Spent a good bit of the eve looking for an English translation of L'Astree by Honore d'Urfe. It seems to be a good size book (a couple volumes) that was turned into a play. The play featuring a green clothed person named "Celadon", which is said to have inspired Europe naming the Chinese glaze. My thought may be also the pastorial nature of the coincided with Europe's understanding of pots and China. The Chinese called those pots "Qingi" meaning "greeninsh porcelain" (thanks linktrip.) I ended up chatting with a librarian who could not find an English translation on the web, but is putting the question to my local reference librarians to see if they can dig something up for me.
