Texas. One Big Fucked Up Mess. So, a few different people have told me about the Texas Legislature in the past few days. In Texas, as in most states, you have to have a quorum of the legislature in order to vote on any issue. Right now, they're voting on redistricting, and it's likely that the plan proposed by Tom DeLay's people will give the Republicans seven more seats in Texas. However, the maps themselves are a little bit unorthodox. They split the districts into geographic sections that don't make a lot of sense. There are some that stretch over three hundred miles while being only two blocks wide. So, instead of taking it up on the floor of the legislature, 51 democrats have taken off for Oklahoma, denying lawmakers the ability to pass any laws whatsoever. Because they didn't like how the game was going to turn out, they walked away. They walked away. And people wonder why we don't trust politicians! Instead of doing their elected duty they have headed for the hills like pouting children. They took their ball and went home. The Left is destroying itself piece by piece here. They bitch about the aircraft carrier, when nothing was out of the ordinary. They fight against the war, when it was the right thing to do. They walk out of the legislature when they don't like the results.
If you're a Texan, and you're represented by one of these no-talent ass-clowns, write them a letter and let them know what kind of jerk you think they are: quitters. |
