A long day.

Well, I was up early this morning and off on a Delta flight to Jackson, Mississippi. Through the cool, dry air of Northern Virginia, I left the city that's been my home for just about three years. I remember when I first flew in some March afternoon, amidst a day full of clouds and a lot of hope. I was going to be a dot-com optionnaire. But that wasn't to be, and today I remembered that other day when I first drove up the George Washington Parkway to the Key Bridge and into Georgetown for dinner at J.Paul's

The flight to Jackson was without any serious delays or problems, and the trip into Jackson from the airport was much the same. Jackson feels small to me. It has such a quintessential small town feel that I love, yet it's an area of a quarter of a million people. Just as Washington had its elephants and donkeys, so Jackson has its catfish. I was just amazed at some of them. The Crowne Plaza where I'm staying is in the heart of Jackson, just a few blocks from the Governor's Mansion and the new Capitol.

There is so much to photograph here, but it is not likely I'll get to do any leisure work as tomorrow will be stressful and busy.

I'm back in town tomorrow night late, and if I get the chance, I'll have some photos to post.
